How To Delete A Picture On Iphone

It can get extremely easy to get carried away when it comes to taking photos. Whether you are on a vacation, at a sporting event or just having a great night with your friends, sometimes a lot of pictures can get taken. While having a lot of pictures on your phone isn't a bad thing, they can severely clog up your storage space.

You may be able to get away with deleting a few unwanted photos here and there, but eventually, you'll have to go through and delete a lot of your photos to keep your phone storage from filling up.

Thankfully, deleting photos on the iPhone is not hard at all and anyone can do it with ease. In the past, deleting all (or multiple) photos was not very easy and would take some time to individually tap every photo. Thanks to a special addition to iOS 10, though, deleting a ton of photos has become easier than ever before. So without further ado, let's take a look at how to delete all of your photos from your iPhone.

How To Delete All Of Your iPhone Photos

As many of you likely know, deleting a single photo on the iPhone is quite easy. All you have to do is go to the Photos app, tap the photo(s) you want to delete, and hit the trash icon. Unfortunately, there is no Select All button for deleting photos from your camera roll. However, a feature in iOS makes deleting photos in bulk almost as easy.

Instead of going through your list of photos and tapping on every photo to mark it for deletion, you can now tap a single photo and then drag your finger over other photos to make selecting multiple photos easier to delete. You can even select whole rows of photos to delete by dragging across the row and then going up or down to delete multiple photos.

To quickly and easily select all of your photos, touch the bottom-right photo, and without lifting your finger, drag your finger to the top left of your screen. Your photos should automatically start scrolling, selecting all of them as you go. All you have to do is wait until you get to the top of your photos, then press the trash can icon to delete them. This makes it extremely easy to delete all or nearly all of your photos in only a few seconds!

Permanently Delete Your iPhone Photos

So now that you have deleted your photos, you think it is all done, right? Wrong! The photos that you delete are actually still on your device and will remain there for a month unless you do something about it. If you want to permanently delete these photos, it is also very easy to do.

All you have to do is find the Recently Deleted album in your Photos app by scrolling to the bottom of the Albums tab.

Once inside, all you have to do is hit the Select button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen, and then the Delete All button on the bottom left. This will completely remove the photos from your device. On the other hand, you can recover photos from this screen if you accidentally deleted them. Just tap on the photo(s) you want to recover and tapRecover.

But before deleting your photos (for extra space or any other reason), you want to make sure that there are no important photos or keepsake photos included in the batch being deleted. Of course, that is your choice, but you want to be sure that you don't get rid of important family or friend photos by accident.

How To Free Up Photo Storage On iPhone

For those who want to free up the storage on their iPhone but don't want to delete any of their precious photos, there are a few solutions. The simplest is to pay for iCloud storage. iCloud starts at just $0.99/month for 50GB, which is pretty manageable for most people. If you need more than 50GB of storage, you can upgrade your storage to 200GB for $2.99/month.

If you want a free way to free up storage without deleting your photos, you can download the Google Photos app. It backs up all of your photos for free on all of your devices. The only downside is that you'll need to delete the photos manually once they're backed up, but once you get into the habit of doing this, it's easy to keep up with. If you're an Amazon Prime subscriber, you can do the same thing with Amazon Photos.

Last but not least, you can look for other ways to free up your iPhone storage that aren't related to your photos. For example, you can try deleting apps, old messages, and message attachments. Going to theiPhone Storage section of theSettings app will give you automated solutions for freeing up your storage. Photos will likely be the biggest storage category for most people, but you might be able to find a few extra gigabytes elsewhere.
