Regardless of your reasoning behind it, sometimes it's better just to delete a Facebook group. Let's teach you how it's done!

How to delete a Facebook group

Let's get you started with the permanent solution for deleting a Facebook group.

Delete Facebook group using a PC browser:

Go to Facebook.
If you haven't, log into your account.
Look at the left menu and click on Groups.
Find the section Groups You Manage and select the group you want to delete.
Go into the Members section, right below the group's name.
Click on the three-dot button next to a member and select Remove member.
Repeat the process for every member in the group.
After you have kicked everyone out of the group, click the three-dot button next to your name and select Leave Group.
Confirm by selecting Leave Group.

Delete Facebook group using the smartphone app:

Open the Facebook app.
Tap on the Groups tab.
Select Your Groups.
Go into the group you want to delete.
Tap on the page's title to pull up options.
Go to Members and hit See all.
Click on the three-dot button next to a member and select Remove member.
Repeat the process for every member in the group.
After you have kicked everyone out of the group, click the three-dot button next to your name and select Leave Group.
Confirm by selecting Leave Group.

Open the Facebook app.
Tap on the Groups tab.
Select Your Groups.
Go into the group you want to delete.
Tap on the shield admin button to pull up options.
Scroll down and select Delete Group.

How to pause a group

Deleting a Facebook group altogether may be overkill. Maybe you just want to cease activity temporarily. This is when the ability to pause a Facebook group comes in handy. When you pause a Facebook group, joining and posting will be halted. In addition, admins can do nothing aside from changing the cover photo. They can, however, remove content. And people can view their posts too.

It used to be able to take a group offline temporarily by archiving it, but Facebook is phasing out this feature. New groups no longer have this option. Pausing a page is a bit different, as it leaves all content online. You just can't do much with the group while it's paused.

Pause Facebook group using a PC browser:

Go to Facebook.
If you haven't, log into your account.
Look at the left menu and click on Groups.
Find the section Groups You Manage and select the group you want to archive.
Click the three-dot button above the About section.
Select Pause group.
Hit Confirm.

Open the Facebook app.
Tap on the Groups tab.
Select Your Groups.
Go into the group you want to pause.
Tap on the shield admin button to pull up options.
Scroll down and select Pause Group.
